Minority Rules

Mum brought home new puppy... except it was of the human kind.  Frodo seemed quite excited about this - it was really the extra treats that came with the baby.
At first I though that all mum brough home was a blanket, but then you can imagine my surprise when that blanket let out a spine chilling scream. Turns out that he was just hungry, and his mood improved as soon as mum fed him.
At least he shares his toys with me - I got a cuddly bear that I took to my bed yesterday.  Mum did not seem impressed, but she allowed me to take another of his stuffed toy's in exchange for the bear.  I guess that as soon as he learns to throw a frisbee, he'll become a lot more useful to me.  For now we just go out for walks with Frodo tugging on Kellen's pram.  I tried explaining to Frodo that mum pushes the pram, but Frodo is quite untrainable sometimes.
I wonder when he is going to house trained.  For now it's just all about changing diapers and feeding.

It's finished

Finally - the pond's finished... Now we got to get some fish.  And I bet dad could not have done this without our help diging the hole for him.  I even had to convince Frodo that there was some biltong under all the soil for him if he help dig the hole.  It would have worked too - if he had not fallen asleep instead of digging.

And the best part of the pond is that I can climb up the rocks to get onto the fence.  So now I can also take care of the neighbours garden too.  Hmmm they have some nice spots for me to dig up.  Very nice indeed.

I wonder if the fish would play with me while Frodo sleeps through the day.  We'll see.  At least dad's happy that I have been keeping the birds away - They have this hungry look when they see the pond.  Too bad for them there's no fish in there yet.  OOOh more entertainment for the day - I get to play with the birds too.

I hear that Boog and Lucy are coming over to spend a few days with us... Maybe I'll teach the labrador how to climb up onto the fence and help the neighbour with their garden.  I'm sure dad will be so pleased that we are all helping out.

Till next time... Many happy wags to you all.

Boog & Lucy visit again

It's been a long time since I posted anything.  Dad's been pretty preoccupied recently - He's been slightly busy at work, but I guess that's what he has to do to keep a good supply of liverbread. Anyway, I thought today I am going to tell you all about Boog and Lucy's visit a few weeks ago.

I overheard Mum that morning saying that Boog and Lucy were coming to visit again today. It’s always nice having Boog around - it's like having your own body guard. That labby can run over anything.

Mum said that they would be here that afternoon.  Frodo and I manipulated dad into playing with us in the park and then we saw a very familiar red car making its way towards us.  It was Uncle Rory.  He also came to visit.  Man, this Sunday was getting better and better.  I rushed up to greet him with my muddy paws and rolled over for the mandatory tummy rub and as usual he didn’t disappoint.  Frodo interrupted my tummy rub by dropping his ball at Uncle Rory's feet, which he happily threw for Frodo.  Oh well if he’s throwing the ball, he might as well throw the Frisbee too.

Boog and Lucy were taking their own sweet time getting there.  The labrador probably stopped at the drive-thru for some KFC again.  Hope he brings us some take away.  When the car finally stopped in our driveway, Boog was sitting in the backseat, while Lucy was right in the back. How on earth did he get to the back seat? Oh well guess that doesn’t matter - they are here!

Yippee, an afternoon of Frisbee, ball throwing and running and jumping. It was mayhem in the park. Aunty K brought the scary snappy, flashy thingy and kept trying to get me.  Mum says it called a camera.  Frodo is always too ready to offer a smile and a pose for the flashy thing, but I know better.  I've been watching Star Trek - it's a phaser that can zap away border collies.  They never going to get me with that thing.

Then the afternoon got even better - we all went on a walk.  I got to show Boog and Lucy all my favourite and most smelly hideoutsAfter a while Boog couldn’t keep up as I dashed through the grass.  He, Lucy and Frodo were more interested in splashing in the muddy water - how uncivilised!!  No wonder mum was screaming at Frodo.  I escaped all the shouting because I was far too busy chasing a dragonfly.  The long grass also prevented Aunty K from zapping me with that phaser she carries around.

Nothing like a good few minutes of Frisbee throwing, followed by a walk, and then for a few more minutes of Frisbee throwing. But Boog didn’t want to have anything to do with a Frisbee. Instead he jumped straight into my watering hole and did a few laps. Frodo was in the firing line and almost got rammed into the pool as Boog jumped in.  Lucy, Frodo and I tried to herd Boog around the pool, but he wanted none of that. He just ignored us and swam his laps.

Sigh, a wet labby doesn't work well inside the house, so we were all left outside to dry up. How rude! We get punished for Boog's indiscretion.

It’s almost my bed time, and I’m feeling a bit tired. Boog’s visits always tires me out. Man I’m going to enjoy my sleep tonight.

Woof
Sir Waggalot.

The Holiday

It was a warm and muggy Durban morning.  I got the smell of the sunblock as mum pasted herself.  It was a smell I knew well.  She always applies sunblock before she goes out to play with us.  And then she gathered our stuff and picked up our leashes - We got into the car and I could not stop barking with excitement.  Yippee, we were off to the beach.

And then we got the ultimate surprise.  Boog and Lucy were there at the beach too.  Happy Days!!

Boog was also in heaven.  He found a fisherman who had just caught his first fish of the morning, so Boog decided to do what labradors were bred for and get the fish.  Frodo just urged him on his mischievous quest.

Frodo came prepared for some serious wave riding.
Boog, Frodo and I explored the aquatic life while Lucy Lucy finds a rock to work on her tan.

And after all that playing, Frodo and dad both needed an afternoon nap at Grandma's.
